Country Club Addition

Greenville Country Club, Wilmington, Delaware

2013

Charles Beck helped design this addition and accompanying renovations while consulting with Mark Hewitt, Architects. The designs were built a few years later, fairly close to the original intent, through the office of Archer Buchanan. The original building was built in 1917 as the private residence of Eugene du Pont, Jr. It was designed by noted architect H.T. Lindeberg, sometimes called β€œthe American Lutyens.” The private residence became Greenville Country Club in 1961 and as time passed, the club needed more space. Designs for a new addition included a dining room wing, a bar wing and a wine cellar building. Renovations would include new lobbies and halls connecting the addition to the rest of the building. The above rendering of the dining room was painted by Charles.
